Scaling EV Charging Infrastructure for Tens of Thousands of Charge Points
The Problem
ubitricity operates one of Europe's largest EV charging networks. The backend platform needed to handle growing concurrency from charge point connections, while integrating with external e-roaming providers to enable cross-network roaming for EV drivers.
My Approach
Developed and enhanced core features for the EV charging platform, focusing on scalability and reliability. Led backend integrations with third-party e-roaming providers using OCPP and related protocols. Optimised the microservices architecture deployed on Kubernetes, reducing resource contention and improving throughput under peak load.
Outcomes
- ✓Improved platform scalability to support growing charge point concurrency
- ✓Delivered backend e-roaming integrations enabling cross-network compatibility
- ✓Optimised microservices deployment on Kubernetes for better resource utilisation
- ✓Contributed architectural patterns adopted across the broader engineering team
